If you’re wondering what to do now that Roe v Wade has been overturned, you are not alone.
My first thought was what the HELL do we do now?
Words cannot express the devastation I feel. That we ALL feel at Empowered Connections.
To say that these last 2 years have been a shit-show is an understatement, truly; the hits keep on coming.
And now we are enduring another blow to our societal fabric: the reversal of Roe vs. Wade by our Supreme Court.
Most of you know that I am super passionate about reproductive rights for all womb carrying folks and I have spent most of my adult life advocating, marching, working, providing clinic defense, donating money, and voting to ensure that our daughters and granddaughters continue to have the right to make their own fucking decisions about their bodies.
Yet with one swipe of a pen, all the hard work generations of women fought for, is gone.
I’m angry.
So so fucking angry.
But worse, I’m beyond frightened at what pregnant people will do now??
So after a weekend of crying and raging with my friends, I’m back at the crossroads of what the hell do we do now?
My first thought now that I can actually think, is “ok, I’m going to put my ass kicking boots back on (metaphorically of course as it’s too dang hot for boots) and go back to work.”
So I’m volunteering to provide clinic defense now, offering rides for people in other states who need to head to a safe state for their procedure and, we’ve donated some money.
But how do I keep from feeling like I’m living in a dystopia?
How do I trust my neighbors and those in my community to look out for me, to support my right as a fucking human being to make decisions for my own body without pressure from our society?
What to do now that Roe v Wade has been overturned: my best advice right now if you too are struggling, is DO SOMETHING. Don’t sit idly by and wait for others to step up.
Look around. Look for the helpers. Look for other women and BIPOC around you. They too are frightened and angry and are as equally unsure of who’s the enemy and who can be trusted.
Find these people.
Let’s keep it real: this reversal really impacts the least supported in our communities – women and people of color. Period. They are the ones that have been left behind AGAIN and we as people of privilege, need to stand up for them and for all of the girls growing up in this country.
Where now girls can be prosecuted for even talking about seeking an abortion, where birth control will be withdrawn and unavailable, where their options will be nil.
So it’s time to FIGHT!! Get angry and stay angry!
- Look for volunteer opportunities
- Sign petitions
- For gods’ sake please VOTE!!! We must collectively vote these assholes out who want to control us and tell us what is good for us. No ma’am.
Not anymore. The rise of feminine energy is happening now!
I believe this wholeheartedly.
All the heartbreak we’ve been experiencing these last 2 years is purposeful as we are changing and shifting the energy of our planet to be more feminine.
This is what we’ve been preparing for my dears, the fight of our lives.
We are stronger than patriarchy.
Stronger than systemic racism.
Stronger than systemic misogyny.
Stronger than all these systems that have been embedded in our society for the past 300 years.
We’ve got this.
Don’t give up
Don’t lose hope.
Do get fucking pissed off and take that energy into your action.
This is how wars are won, how battles are waged and how worlds are changed.
I for one, am putting on my armor and pulling out my sword.
Will you join me?
