Yes. It’s true. And I’m not ashamed. AT. ALL.
Does that mean I’m crazy? Nope.
Does that mean I don’t know what I’m doing as a therapist myself? Nope.
Would you be shocked if I told you I went to the doctor for my asthma? Definitely not.
Yet, when I tell people I too have a therapist, I get a range of responses and some of them are slightly judgey. I get the whole “omg, what is wrong with you?” look, or the look that says to just stop talking. Like now.
Sigh.
We all see that suicide rates are climbing and yet it’s ridiculous to me that we’re still acting like taking care of our emotions, our mental health, is a bad thing.
What???
It’s time to let go of that old ass stigma that therapy is a dirty little secret. We see how that’s been working, right? {it’s NOT!!}
I see my therapist because I too have shit going on. Family shit. Business growing shit. Moving out of the area in a year shit. Being married shit. Raising a teenage boy shit. Just LIFE shit.
I’m just like you. I don’t have it all figured out and sometimes I just need a compassionate ear to listen to my circles as I work through my thoughts and feelings. And I’m a better person for it too.
And you know what else? It feels fucking amazing!
Besides, how much street cred would I have if I told all the women and teen girls that I work with that it’s okay for THEM to go to therapy but not me?!
Look, going to therapy doesn’t mean you’re crazy. (Crazy people don’t “need” therapy; just ask them!)
It means that you are a real human having a life experience and life sucks ass sometimes {okay, a lot of times.} We all need extra support, extra ideas, extra space to just be ourselves. To complain or to cry or to even laugh at our silly selves.
That’s what therapy is for!
It’s a space just for you where you can focus on YOU and begin healing some old wounds, letting go of expectations that don’t serve you, stop being that doormat, leave that toxic relationship or whatever else you want to accomplish on the road to being the best woman you can be!
I know I need it and I have no shame in my game.
If you’re feeling sad, reach out.
If you’re feeling stuck, reach out.
If you’re pissed off and aren’t sure why, REACH. OUT.
We are here!
Seriously – we’re here. Our therapists are specially trained with the issues that impact women today in our society and we got you! Schedule easily right here.
