I’m currently immersed in a book called We Should All Be Millionaires (our October pick of the month) by Rachel Rodgers. In it, Rodgers mentions Madam C.J. Walker, the African American woman who was the founder and creator of the most successful hair care product business in her time. Walker worked herself up from poverty to her unbelievable wealth in the early 1900’s. Think about how hard this is to do in a time where black people had little resources and power, ammazzzing!!! You can read more about Madam C.J. Walker here.
What has struck me most about the book is the author’s inference that Madam Walker believed in not only improving herself and her life, but also the thousands of women who became sales reps for her products. This became part of her mission and focus: lifting women out of poverty and giving them the tools to become successful themselves.
I. LOVE. THIS.
I strongly believe our duty to women is simply that: helping each other to live better lives, encouraging and supporting each other’s dreams and goals, and empowering each other to achieve them.
So many times we hear about women who don’t do this, who tear each other down through their actions or words. Enough!!
It is our intrinsic duty to women to uplift and support our sisters.
During the good and the bad. The pretty and the ugly. The easy and the hard.
If you look back at the beginning of our human race, you’ll see that women have worked together, lived together, and helped each other by looking out for each other and their children: they banded together in every way to survive.
While we’ve lost some of that behavior in modern society, the biological and spiritual pull to other women, is still present.
I’m encouraging you to honor this pull by putting aside jealousy, insecurity, and fear and instead, really empower our sister friends all around us, no matter their station in life or their background.
Imagine a world where we do this regularly and easily as part of our movement in the world: the change we could make would be incredible!
Together is where we are stronger, more successful, and more whole. The separation and division between women is not serving us and never has. Now is the time to band together and work to not only lift other women up but to also lift up our communities.
We can do this! It is our obligation and duty to women and girls everywhere to empower, support, love, validate and affirm their dreams, wishes and feelings. When one woman succeeds, we ALL succeed.
What a ripple effect this will have on our communities … try it and see how you feel and how strong of an impact it has on the world around you and them.
We do this at Empowered Connections every day with every client, and with each other. We’ve seen firsthand how healing and powerful this intentional support and connection is with each woman & girl we encounter.
Be the change you wish to see in the world, right? (Can’t remember where that came from but it’s pretty relevant).
As always, if you are looking for your own tribe, your own support team, we’ve got you! You can go here to schedule an appointment online easily & quickly. We welcome the chance to show you what true connection feels like!
